Donovan Mitchell has been the standout player for Louisville men’s basketball team this season, and as a sophomore was promoted to team captain by head coach Rick Pitino.
The New York native is now gearing up to play in front of friends and family at the Barclay’s Center in the ACC Tournament, which is in Brooklyn for the first time ever.
One man who will be watching Mitchell play is his father, Donovan Mitchell Sr.
Mitchell Sr. is a long-time employee of the New York Mets, the team’s Director of Player Relations and Community Engagement.
Sports Night had the opportunity to meet up with him at Citi Field in Queens.
Mitchell Sr. says he still has to pinch himself when he sees his son TV, and that he is very proud of what his son has accomplished on and off the basketball court. He also takes comfort in Donovan’s decision to play at Louisville.
