Destin is a gray or roan colt by Giant’s Causeway, out of the Siberian Summer mare Dream of Summer, foaled April 16, 2013. Destin enters the Kentucky Derby with a 56-day span between races, which would be longest documented layoff since complete records were kept starting in 1929. The last gray to win the Kentucky Derby was Giacomo in 2005. Destin is the No. 11 on the Kentucky Derby Leaderboard with 51 points.

Destin is owned by Twin Creeks Racing Stables LLC, trained by Todd Pletcher, and ridden by Javier Castellano. Castellano won three straight Eclipse Awards for Outstanding Jockey in 2013-15. He’s a five-time Travers Stakes winner: Bernardini (2006), Afleet Express (2010), Stay Thirsty (2011), V.E. Day (2014) and Keen Ice (2015). Castellano also set the record for single season earnings in 2015 with $28,120,767. He currently has a Kentucky Derby record of 9-0-0-0.
