The upset bug struck Louisville in week 3 of the college football season, but they were not alone nor were the Cards the biggest victim.
Virginia Tech, just one week removed from a colossal upset of its own against Ohio State, fell prey to an under-appreciated East Carolina team Saturday.
The Pirates went into Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, which is known as one of the toughest places to play in the country, and took care of business. Yes, Virginia Tech had a chance and even tied the game late, but all-in-all the Hokies fell flat the weekend after the program’s biggest win in years.
On the opposite end of the upset spectrum, Boston College came up with a totally unexpected win over previously #9 USC. The Eagles fell behind early, took a resounding lead and then held on for dear life in the fourth quarter.
Through three weeks of the 2014 season, the ACC is as jumbled up as ever. But hey, that’s part of what makes college football so much fun.
The cn|2 Sports crew broke it all down in this week’s edition of “Chalk Talk.”
