02/27/2018 10:42 AM

Churchill Downs released the 2018 “Official Art of the Kentucky Derby” on Tuesday morning.

The artwork comes from award-winning Kentucky painter Lynn Dunbar.

Dunbar is the second Kentucky artist chosen to create the “Official Art of the Kentucky” since the tradition began in 1997. The other Kentucky artist was Jim Cantrell in 2017.

This year’s artwork will be featured on various merchandise items, including t-shirts and posters.

This year’s Kentucky Derby will be run on May 5, with the Kentucky Oaks taking place on May 4.
