Check out all the awesome basketball events taking place in Kentucky this week

Regular season college basketball is still nearly a month away, but the preseason festivities get started this week. Here are a few important events happening across the state over the next few weeks that cn|2 will have you covered on:

Tuesday, Oct 11: The University of Louisville is hosting their annual basketball media day. Make sure you are following Andrew Chernoff , Lyndsey Gough , Garrett Moore, and cn|2 Sports on twitter for the most unique and candid moments from the media’s first opportunity to talk with the Cardinal basketball team.

Wednesday, Oct. 12: U of L is holding their first Red vs White basketball scrimmage. Tip time in the KFC Yum! Center is 7:00pm EST. We will have highlights and full recaps posted to this website, and our Facebook page. The Cards’ will hold a second scrimmage the following Friday, October 21.

Thursday, Oct. 13: It’s the Wildcat’s turn for media day ahead of their first open scrimmage. The University of Kentucky features its typical freshman-heavy roster, and our team at KSTV will have the best moments from our behind-the-scenes look at this year’s team.

Friday, Oct. 14: Big Blue Madness is finally here. After days of camping for the tickets, UK fans will pack Rupp Arena to see the men’s and women’s team in action for the first time this season. Kentucky Sports Television will be there the entire time and posting regular updates to our Facebook page throughout the evening. Door open at 5:30 and the event will also be streamed on the SEC Network.

Western Kentucky fans will also get to watch the Hilltoppers for the first time this season. WKU is hosting their annual Hilltopper Hysteria. Both basketball teams will scrimmage in Diddle Arena.

Saturday, Oct, 15: The professionals are coming to Louisville. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Miami Heat are playing in the KFC Yum! Center at 7:30 Saturday night. The game features former Wildcat and NBA Rookie of the Year, Karl Anthony Towns
and former Cardinal star Gorgui Dieng.

Garrett Moore

Garrett is a Sports Producer for Spectrum News. He is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State and got his start as a sports photographer.
