Cards lose controversial game. Cal-State Fullerton advances

The Louisville Cardinals baseball team has called it a season. UofL could not hold a 3-1 lead late in the game. Cal State Fullerton scored 2 runs in the 8th, to tie things up at 3-3. Then in the 11th David Olmedo-Barrera hit his second solo homer of the game, giving the Titans a 4-3 lead. The big question, was the ball fair or foul.
Most of the Cardinal fans at the stadium, and probably most watching at home, thought the ball was foul. The umpires originally called it fair, and after checking the replay, kept the decision, to the dismay of the six thousand in attendance. Here is how UofL head Coach Dan McDonnell saw it.
Will Smith hit a solo homer for the Cards in the 4th. UofL also scored single runs in the 6th and 7th by way of a sac fly, and later on, a wild pitch.
So Louisville’s season comes to an end at 47-18. The Titans head to the College World series to take on Vanderbilt this weekend.
