A day that started with enthusiasm in the ‘Ville with the hiring of football coach Bobby Petrino, ended in disappointment.

The 12th ranked Louisville Cardinals were upset by number 24 Memphis 73-67. The Tigers scored the game’s final 7 points as Louisville went scoreless for more than 2 minutes.

Cardinals Senior Luke Hancock led all scorers with 20 points, but Rick Pitino felt the loss was due to the cardinals Dismal Defense. With the defeat, the Cardinals fall to 13-3 overall, 2-1 in the AAC. All three of Louisville’s losses have come against ranked opponents.

The Tigers improve to 11-3, 2-1 in conference. We’ll have lots of player reaction tonight at 6:30pm and 10:30pm on CN|2 Sports. The Cards next game is Sunday afternoon against S.M.U.
