Cards Drop 2 in a Row: Lose to Villanova 73-64

The Louisville Cardinal basketball was rolling this time last week. Now the Cards are just reeling.
Villanova overcame a six-point second half deficit by closing the game on a 27-12 run to post a 73-64 upset win over fifth-ranked UofL.
The Cardinals were looking to rebound from Saturday’s 70-68 home loss to Syracuse but came out flat from the outset, falling behind 23-13 early and trailing 30-28 at the halftime.
Louisville surged ahead 52-46 midway through the second but were plagued down the stretch by poor free throw shooting and turnovers. It was a particularly tough night for sophomore Chane Behanan, who was just 3-of-9 from the line and bobbled a couple of easy passes from Peyton Siva late in the game with the Cards trying to rally. UofL was just 12-of-24 from the free throw line as a team.
Villanova (12-7, 3-3 Big East) placed four players in double figures, led by 15 apiece from Ryan Arcidiacono and JayVaughn Pinkston. Wayne Blackshear scored 17 for UofL, including 5-of-8 on threes, while Siva added 15 points and 11 assists.
Louisville (16-3, 4-2) will try to get back on the winning track Saturday at Georgetown.
