Bru's Views: Can American Pharoah win the Triple Crown?

Can American Pharoah do it? Can he become the 12th horse ever to win the triple crown??? or will he be the 18th horse to win the Derby and Preakness and come up short in the Belmont…like California Chrome last year? Well, if I knew the definitive answer, I would save up my money for a special June 6th pay-day.
But this much I know…American Pharoah is a special horse…a horse that did not let the nasty weather in Baltimore affect him. A horse that stared down his stablemate..the much bigger Dortmund, not once, but twice at Churchill and Pimlico. Pharoah also has a team around him that seems to be making all the right moves. The Zayat’s know what to expect. Trainer Bob Baffert might be the best in the business. So why am I uncomfortable?
Because 3 grueling races in 5 weeks is a lot to expect for any horse, let alone one that will be taking on all these horses who have skipped the Preakness, and are lying in wait at the Belmont. I have a funny feeling all the Todd Pletcher horses…like Carpe Diem and Materiality, who have been resting since the Derby…are ready and waiting.
There’s a reason many call the triple crown the toughest feat in sports. and there’s a reason why only 11 horses, none since Affirmed in 1978 have won it.
I desperately want to see American Pharoah capture the Belmont. Don’t think it’s gonna happen. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
