UofL picked up its sixth win in a row, closing with a 13-3 run to post a 77-74 win at West Virginia on Saturday. The Cards improved to 20-5 overall and 8-4 in Big East play.
Kyle Kuric led five Louisville players in double figures with 17 points. Freshman Wayne Blackshear had an impressive Cardinal debut with 13 off the bench. Blackshear, a McDonald’s All-American, had UofL’s previous 24 games with a shoulder injury.
Louisville trailed by as many as 13 in the first half and still trailed 71-64 before Kuric hit a three and Russ Smith stole the ensuing inbounds pass and made a layup with 2:21 left to put Louisville ahead 73-71, its first lead since midway through the first half.
