Bengals top Chargers in home opener

Linebacker Vinny Rey will take home the game ball after the Bengals 24-19 home opener victory. Rey put a stop to the Chargers’ attempt at a game-winning drive by getting vertical for a huge interception that ended the ballgame.

AJ Green got redemption for his drop last week by making a spectacular touchdown catch to put the Bengals up 7-0 early in the first quarter. Dalton hit three different receivers for touchdowns in the win, finding both Marvin Jones and Tyler Eifert in the end zone after the initial Green touchdown. Dalton finished 16 of 26 for 214 yards, and continued his streak of no interceptions.

Effect caught four passes for 49 yards. A.J. Green caught three for 45. Marvin Jones caught two passes for 48yards. The passing game was strong but Gio Bernard stood out, as well. Jeremy Hill was benched after losing two fumbles, but Bernard got hot and more than made up for it. He ran 20 times for 123 yards.

The Bengals now move to 2-0 before heading to Baltimore next week to face the Ravens.
