Bengals Report: Burfict signs four year contract extension

08/21/2014 10:43 AM

According to ESPN reports last night, Pro Bowl linebacker Vontaze Burfict and the Bengals have agreed to a contract extension. According to Adam Schefter, the contract inks Burfict through the 2017 season at four years and $20 million. He’d make $7.6 million this year.

The Bengals have not yet made an announcement that the extension is official, but Cincinnati’s quarterback Andy Dalton, who recently signed a deal of his own, spoke out on twitter.

Burfict led the league in tackles last year with 171 and has emerged as the leader of the Bengals defense. He was entering the final year of his rookie contract which, as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State, would have only paid him $570K.
