Bengals finally get W in Houston

The Bengals moved to 7-3-1 on Sunday after finally finding a way to beat the Texans 22-13. Houston had handed Cincinnati two rough playoff losses in 2011 and 2012 (plus an additional regular season loss) during the Andy Dalton era, but the Bengals were able to put their history with the Texans in the past this week.

With this win, Cincinnati remains on top of the AFC North. Getting over the hump of beating Houston may have even given some Bengals fans hope that getting over the playoff hump is next.

In their previous trips to his hometown of Houston, Andy Dalton played poorly, but Sunday was a different story. Dalton looked crisp, particularly in the first half, which he finished 16 of 18 for 151 yards and a touchdown. He ended the game 24 of 35 for 233 yards.

Dalton’s top receiver had quite a day, as well. A.J. Green never found the endzone but had no problem getting open. The usually quiet Green got vocal and was picked up on a microphone yelling “you better get somebody else on me” after one of his 12 catches. His 12 receptions (for 121 yards) was a career high and just one catch short of breaking the Bengals franchise record set in 1998 by Carl Pickens. Green also told the media after the game that his toe is now back at 100 percent.

Next up, the Bengals have a chance to finish out this three game road stretch 3-0 with a match-up at Tampa Bay on Sunday.
