Bengals cut DT Devon Still

As NFL teams narrow down their rosters today, sources have confirmed the Bengals cut Devon Still, whose daughter, Leah, captured the hearts of many in her battle with cancer the past year. The defensive tackle will need to latch onto another 53-man roster as he no longer has practice squad eligibility.

Without that practice squad eligibility, the numbers simply caught up with Still. The Bengals have plenty of depth on the defensive line and knew they wouldn’t be able to keep everyone they’d like to in that position group. Still acknowledged this week that even if he were cut, after the compassion they’ve shown him, he has a bond with the Bengals that will never be broken.

It’s important to note that because Still played in 12 games for the Bengals last year, he (and Leah) will have NFL health insurance for the next five years no matter his NFL status, though it wouldn’t be a surprise if he ends up on another NFL roster soon.
