BELLARMINE BASKETBALL | Schurfranz Continues Family Tradition

01/26/2017 11:50 AM

Bellarmine sophomore forward Willie Schurfranz is the first-ever third generation basketball player at BU.

His grandfather, Jim, and his father, Tom, each played basketball at the school.

“It’s great,” said Schurfranz. “I even had a teacher that taught my dad.”

Schurfranz, a DeSales High School graduate, announced his decision to attend Bellarmine in the summer of 2015.

“It’s people like his grandfather and his father who built the foundation for this program,” said head coach Scott Davenport.

Schurfranz’s grandfather and father have both left their mark in the program. Each are members of the Bellarmine Athletics Hall of Fame.
