Former Louisville Cardinals Shoni Schimmel and Angel McCoughtry returned to the KFC Yum! Center on Saturday night when the WNBA stars joined their team, the Atlanta Dream, in hosting the Atlanta Dream Classic.

The exhibition also featured the Washington Mystics, Connecticut Sun and Indiana Fever. The Sun nabbed the first win of the night over the Fever, 76-68. That game was followed by a Dream-Mystics match-up, during which Schimmel and McCoughtry were part of the starting lineup. Their team, however, got off to a slow start. The Dream finished the first quarter down 24-10 and still trailed the Mystics 46-23 at the half.

McCoughtry sat out most of the second half with heating pads on her foot. She finished with 10 points. Schimmel played a majority of the half and finished with 6 points and 6 assists. Washington finished with a 79-55 win.

McCoughtry addressed the crowd after the game, thanking fans for their support and expressing how special it was to return to Louisville. It was her first time playing in the KFC Yum! Center. McCoughtry called the facility impressive and said Louisville deserves a professional team.
