Anton Gill transferring from Louisville

Rick Pitino hinted in his season-ending press conference that at least one player would transfer from Louisville. Tuesday evening that proclamation became a reality with the announcement that Anton Gill will leave the University.
Gill was a hero for the Cards just a few days ago, scoring seven points in the team’s Sweet 16 win against NC State. But as a whole, his sophomore season was not ideal.
Pitino released a statement following the news:
“He is a bright, articulate, hard-working young man that we will miss very much. I agree with his decision and have given him his release to attend any university he desires. He wants to play major minutes and I believe he has a bright future ahead of him. We thank him for his dedication to our team.”
The North Carolina native averaged 2.5 points in 9.4 minutes per game this season, making just 35.3 percent from the field and 25.6 percent from three-point range.
It is unclear whether or not Gill’s scholarship will be filled this offseason, but Coach Pitino did say that the team is exploring both junior college and graduate transfer options.
