H.S. SOCCER | KHSAA State Semifinals, Finals Take Place This Week

The 2017 KHSAA Soccer Championships continue this week at Lafayette High School. The boys’ semifinal games will take place on Wednesday. The first match-up features Daviess County and Ryle at 6 p.m. ET. The other semifinal round match-up features St. Xavier and Warren Central at 8 p.m. ET. The two winning teams will then face off in the boys’ state championship game Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. Daviess County is the defending boys’ soccer state champion. In the final week of the regular season, the Henderson County Colonels are heading to Owensboro to take on the Red Devils at 7:00 central. H.S. FIELD HOCKEY | CAL Wins 2017 State Championship

The Christian Academy of Louisville field hockey team won the 2017 KHSAA State Championship on Wednesday evening in front of its home crowd. CAL topped Assumption 2-1 thanks to a second half goal by the Centurions’ Claudia Thomas with under 11 minutes to play in the game. Thomas’ goal was the only goal scored by either team in the second half. Assumption was the defending state champion, having won the 2016 state title. Read more

Since 2013 the Bowling Green and South Warren football teams have a combined record of 115-13 with four State Championships between them. This week they meet for the very first time. The defending back-to-back State Champs, the Bowling Green Purples are 6-2 this season with two losses to Louisville schools (PRP and St. X in weeks two and three). The Logan County football team did not win a single game over a four-year span; owning the longest losing streak in the state. Now, they own a new streak- a winning streak. The Cougars are 8 -0 and on a nine-game winning streak; they even clinched home-field advantage for the playoffs last week against Madisonville North Hopkins. Gov. Matt Bevin signs HB 241, providing more protection for high school student athletes

Kentuck governor Matt Bevin signed House Bill 241 into effect this afternoon, which has amendments to protect Kentucky high school student athletes. The bill prohibits a coach from returning a student who has sustained a concussion to play until that student athlete has been cleared by a physician.  Read more 

H.S. BOYS GOLF | Lexington Christian Named "Team of the Week"

Last week, the Lexington Christian Academy boys golf team won the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA Boys State Golf Championship. The Eagles won the team title by three strokes over St. Xavier. It was the third state championship for the LCA boys golf team in program history. Last week the Western Hills Wolverines took a loss at Lexington Catholic, but a bright spot for them- their star running back Wandale Robinson accounted for seven total touchdowns: five rushing, one receiving and one 96-yard kickoff return. The North Oldham High School football team is getting ready to celebrate its senior class on Friday, as it will be “Senior Night” for the Mustangs. The Mustangs (2-4) host Shelby County (4-2) Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Mustangs are currently on a two-game winning streak, after beating Bullitt Central and Spencer County in North Oldham’s last two games. UofL BASKETBALL | Trinity's David Johnson Commits To The Cards

Trinity High School 6’5” shooting guard David Johnson committed to Louisville on Friday. Johnson, a class of 2019 prospect, is rated as a four-star prospect by 24/7 Sports and Scout.com. Johnson had also drawn interest from UK and Xavier. Johnson averaged 10.8 points per game as a sophomore.
