WKU FOOTBALL | Hilltoppers Announce Spring Schedule

The WKU football program announced its spring football schedule on Wednesday. The Hilltoppers will play 14 practices beginning on March 20. It all leads up to the team’s annual Red vs. White Spring Game, which will take place on Saturday, April 21 at 3 p.m. ET (2 p.m. CT) inside Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium. Western Kentucky women’s basketball player Tashia Brown was named Conference USA’s Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. It’s the fourth time this season she has been named C-USA’s Player of the Week, which matches a WKU program record for most Player of the Week honors by an “individual in a single season.” Brown had a career-high 38 points in the Lady Toppers’ win over Charlotte on Friday night. The WKU Hilltoppers started off their current two-game road trip with a win on Thursday night, beating North Texas 102-94 in overtime. In that game, WKU guard Taveion Hollingsworth led the Hilltoppers with a game-high 30 points. The WKU baseball team is ready to begin its 2018 regular season. The Hilltoppers will begin play this weekend at Memphis. Their three-game series was scheduled to begin Friday, before it was postponed due to “heavy rain in the region.” The two programs will hope to still play all three-games of their series on Saturday and Sunday. WKU Athletics announced on Thursday that the videoboards at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium and E.A. Diddle Arena will undergo renovations this spring. The renovations will “increase the size of the viewing area by nearly 400 percent.” “We are very excited for these major upgrades to the fan experience at our two largest venues for next season,” said Director of Athletics Todd Stewart in a press release.
