Louisville City FC lost its first home match in the USL regular season on Wednesday, falling 1-0 to Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC. Pittsburgh’s Kenardo Forbes scored the game’s only goal in the 79th minute: Wednesday’s match was LouCity’s fourth match in 11 days between USL play and U.S. Open Cup play. There will be seven individuals joining the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame this year. The UofL football team’s season opener will be here sooner rather than later. The Cards open the season in Orlando, Fla. against Alabama on Sept. 1. Of course, plenty of eyes will be on Louisville quarterback Jawon Pass in that match-up, although, much of his success may depend on the play of his offensive line. PGA TOUR | Davis Love III To Play in Barbasol Championship

The 2018 Barbasol Championship will feature World Golf Hall of Fame golfer Davis Love III as one of its participants when the tournament tees off July 19-22 at Champions at Keene Trace in Nicholasville, Ky. Love entered his name into the preliminary field last week and will play alongside his son, Dru Love, in the tournament. Love, Dru’s father, won the 1997 PGA Championship and has 21 PGA Tour victories throughout his career. Read more

Louisville Slugger Field has advanced to the Elite Eight round in Ballpark Digest’s “Best of the Ballparks 2018: Triple-A” competition. The home of the Bats recently beat Omaha’s Werner Park in the previous round. Louisville Slugger Field is currently up against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s PNC Field. Christian Academy of Louisville’s Milton Wright is getting plenty of looks from major colleges across the country. This week, Wright narrowed his list of potential landing spots to five schools: Alabama, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio St. and Purdue. Louisville wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick was a force to be reckoned with last year for the Cards. He made an appearance in all 13 games, hauling in 45 receptions for 699 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. Fourteen-year-old football player Kiyaunta Goodwin continues to make a big impression with college football, despite not having played a down high school football yet. Goodwin, who is getting ready for his first year of high school at Holy Cross (Louisville), recently received offers from programs like Alabama and Florida St. Previously, Goodwin had received multiple other offers, including from Louisville and Kentucky. NCAA BASKETBALL | In-State Kentucky Basketball Tournament?

The Crossroads Classic is a four-team basketball event each year for the state of Indiana that features four of the biggest programs in the state: Indiana, Purdue, Notre Dame and Butler. Would Kentucky ever start an event like that? “I think it’s great for all of us in-state people to play,” said Stansbury on Monday. WKU head coach Rick Stansbury says he hopes there could be some type of tournament that would allow various Kentucky programs play each other each year.  Read more
