H.S. BASKETBALL | 2017-18 KHSAA Mr & Miss Kentucky Basketball

For the first time in the history of the KHSAA Mr. & Miss Kentucky Basketball, the winners are from the same school. Trevon Faulkner and Seygan Robins, both from Mercer County, won the award. On Sunday, Robins was named the Sweet Sixteen MVP after leading Mercer County to back-to-back state championships. Trevon Faulkner will attend Northern Kentucky University and Robins has signed to play for the University of Louisville.  Read more

The 2018 Whitaker Bank / KHSAA Boys’ Sweet Sixteen State Basketball Tournament begins on Wednesday. All games will take place inside Lexington’s Rupp Arena. H.S. FOOTBALL | Mark Spader Named Bowling Green Head Coach

Last week, Bowling Green High School announced Mark Spader as its next head football coach. The announcement was made a press conference on Thursday, March 8. Spader replaces Kevin Wallace, who became the head coach of St. Xavier High School’s football program in February. H.S. BASKETBALL | Mercer County Girls Win Back-to-Back KHSAA State Championship

The Mercer County girls basketball team won its second consecutive state championship on Sunday afternoon inside Highland Heights’ BB&T Arena. The Titans beat Mercy-Boyd County 74-34 to take home the trophy. Mercer County is the first repeat champion in Kentucky since Lexington Catholic in 2005 and 2006. The Mercer County girls basketball team is moving on in the 2018 St. Elizabeth Healthcare / KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 State Basketball Tournament. The Titans beat Owensboro Catholic 67-66 on Friday afternoon inside Highland Heights’ BB&T Arena. H.S. BASKETBALL | Romeo Langford Named Gatorade Indiana Player of the Year

New Albany High School (In.) basketball star Romeo Langford was named the Gatorade Indiana Player of the Year on Thursday. Langford is averaging 35.7 points per game this season for the Bulldogs. Langford previously announced he narrowed his list of college choices to Indiana, Kansas and Vanderbilt.  Read more

H.S. ATHLETICS | Paris Greyhounds Enjoying "New" Training Facility on Campus

Roughly ten months ago, Paris High School unveiled its new all-sports training facility. The 4,500-square-foot facility is near the Greyhounds’ football stadium and provides student-athletes with a lot of new equipment. Spectrum News’ Andrew Chernoff stopped by the “Paris Greyhounds All Sports Training Facility” this week to see whether or not students enjoy using the “new” facility. The Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation announced this year’s candidates for Kentucky’s 2018 Mr. and Miss Basketball on Friday. Nineteen boys players are up for Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball, while 18 girls players are up for Kentucky’s Miss Basketball. H.S. FOOTBALL | Kevin Wallace Introduced as St. X Head Coach

St. Xavier High School (Louisville) introduced Kevin Wallace as its new head football coach on Tuesday afternoon. Wallace replaces Will Wolford, who stepped down from his position in December. Wallace comes to St. X after serving as head coach of the Bowling Green High School football team since 2011. During his tenure at Bowling Green, he led the Purples to five state titles.
