Western Kentucky women’s basketball introduced Greg Collins as its 11th head coach in program history on Wednesday afternoon. Collins takes over for Michelle Clark-Heard, who left to become head coach of the Cincinnati women’s basketball program. Collins has spent the last six seasons on the WKU women’s basketball staff. During those six seasons, the Lady Toppers won four conference tournament championships and two more regular season championships. Western Kentucky Women’s Basketball Head Coach Michelle Clark-Heard is leaving WKU for the Cincinnati Lady Bearcats head coaching job. Reports surfaced Monday that she had interviewed at UC. According to the Bowling Green Daily News, Clark-Heard also interviewed with Ole Miss for their women’s basketball coaching vacancy. Heard has been WKU’s coach for six seasons with a 154-48 record. NIT BASKETBALL | WKU Hilltoppers Advance To Semifinal Round

The Western Kentucky Hilltopper Men’s Basketball team (27-10) defeated the Oklahoma State Cowboys (21-15) 92-84 in the quarterfinal round of the NIT in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Eddie Sutton Court. The Hilltoppers advance to the semifinals in New York City’s Madison Square Garden on March 27. Tip-off time will be either 7:00 or 9:00 p.m. EST on ESPN where they will face two-seed Utah. WKU BASKETBALL | Lady Toppers' Season Comes to an End

The WKU women’s basketball team’s season came to an end on Friday afternoon in Knoxville, Tenn. The No. 11-seeded Lady Toppers (24-9) lost 82-58 to the No. 6-seeded Oregon St. Beavers (24-7) in the NCAA Tournament first round. WKU struggled from the field, shooting only 32.8% (20-of-61). Tashia Brown led the way for the Lady Toppers with a team-high 17 points and seven rebounds. Oregon St. was led by Marie Gulich’s game-high 29 points.  Read more

The WKU men’s basketball team is back in action on Tuesday night in the first round of the 2018 National Invitational Tournament. The Hilltoppers (24-10) host Boston College (19-15) inside E.A. Diddle Arena at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. CT). WKU BASKETBALL | Marshall Holds Off Hilltoppers To Win C-USA Tournament Championship

The Marshall Thundering Herd earned Conference USA’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament on Saturday night. Marshall (24-10) beat Western Kentucky (24-10) in the C-USA Tournament Championship, winning a 67-66 thriller. WKU trailed 67-55 with under four minutes to play before storming back to cut the deficit to one. WKU though could not take the lead on its final possession in the closing seconds. The WKU baseball team opened up its three-game series against Bowling Green with a win on Friday afternoon. The Hilltoppers (7-7) scored 17 runs in the first four innings en route to a 17-5 win over the Falcons (3-11).
