The West Jessamine Colts may want to rename themselves the West Jessamine “Cardiac” Colts. After losing their regular season opener against Lloyd Memorial last month, West Jessamine has won its last two games by a combined two points. It beat Clay County 14-13 on August 25, before beating South Laurel 35-34 on August 31. The Warren East Raiders have been named this week’s “High School Team of the Week.” The Raiders are on a two-game winning streak to open the season, one of which is a come-from-behind victory over Greenwood last week. In 2016 the Corbin Redhounds finished the season with a 12-2 record, falling to the eventual 3-A State Champions, the Belfry Pirates, in the fourth round of the playoffs- one game shy of the state final. The Waggener Wildcats got their season off to a rough start last week, taking a 40-14 loss on the road at Lexington Christian. Next on the schedule, a road game against Boyle County at the Rebel Bowl. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. eastern Saturday night.
