H.S. LACROSSE | Trinity Named "High School Team of the Week"

The Trinity boys lacrosse team won the Kentucky Scholastic Lacrosse League’s State Championship this past Friday, by beating rival St. X 11-9. With the victory, Trinity avenged its 2016 KSLL State Championship Game loss to St. X. H.S. TENNIS | North Oldham middle school duo wins high school state title

There are multiple new state title holders across Kentucky in high school sports this week. Several state championship competitions were held just this past weekend, including the tennis state championships. North Oldham High School took home the girls doubles title. The St. X Tigers and Trinity Shamrocks will add another chapter to their rivalry when they play each other for the Kentucky Scholastic Lacrosse League State Championship on Friday. Both teams took care of business in the state semifinal round on Wednesday night at Christian Academy of Louisville. St. X started the evening by topping South Oldham 19-4. DuPont Manual track star Yared Nuguse is going to be tough competition for anyone facing him at this weekend’s KHSAA State Track and Field Championships. The Ballard High School softball team in Louisville is one of the top teams in the state, so it may come as a little bit of a surprise that it is an underclassmen making one of the biggest impacts on the team. H.S. BASEBALL | Holy Cross Making School History

The Holy Cross baseball team won the Kentucky All “A” State Championship this past Sunday after beating Caldwell County 5-3 in 10 innings. It is the Cougars’ first-ever All “A” State Title. The next big goal for the team is finding success in the district tournament, which takes place later this month. The Oldham County softball team has been scoring runs by the boatload this season. Heading into Wednesday evening, the Lady Colonels were averaging over 13 runs per game. “Our offense is really the key for our team this year,” said head coach Steve Leanhart. Everyone is contributing to the success as well. H.S. BASKETBALL | Bringing Prep School Hoops To Kentucky

Two weeks ago it was announced that prep basketball would be brought to the bluegrass. Aspire Academy, based in Arizona, choose to relocate to Louisville. This will be the first major prep school in the state and they have plans to recruit national talent and play a national schedule. The Lexington Catholic baseball team has been on a roll recently. The Knights have won their last seven games. In fact, the last time the Knights lost was roughly two weeks ago, back on April 13 against Lafayette. Lexington Catholic is coming off a 4-1 win over Dunbar on Tuesday night.
