EKU men’s basketball player Jaylen Babb-Harrison is being held in the Madison County Detention Center on a charge of first degree rape. He was booked into the detention center on Sunday. cn|2 Sports received an official statement from EKU after reaching out for comment. The EKU Colonels (4-4) were too much for the WKU Hilltoppers (3-4) on Wednesday night, snapping a 13-game losing streak to the Hilltoppers that dated back to 1987. EKU beat WKU 78-59 in front of over 5,000 fans. It was the first trip to Richmond in the rivalry for the Hilltoppers since 2007. The Colonels made sure to spoil the trip for the Hilltoppers early. Eastern Kentucky Football quarterback Tyler Swafford was a valuable piece to the Colonel program this season. As a redshirt sophomore this year, Swafford started four games under head coach Mark Elder, and threw for 940 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for one touchdown. The Eastern Illinois Panthers (6-5, 4-4) spoiled the EKU Colonels’ (3-8, 1-6) season finale on Saturday by getting a 24-0 victory inside Roy Kidd Stadium. EKU MEN'S BASKETBALL | Gist Already Making A Big Difference

Eastern Kentucky freshman guard Asante Gist is already making a big difference for his Colonel basketball team this season. On Monday, he was voted the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, after scoring 21 points and getting seven rebounds during his team’s 97-87 win over IUPUI Friday night. During that game, he went 16-of-22 from the free throw line. Then on Monday night, Gist scored 15 points for the Colonels in their 78-69 overtime loss to UNC Wilmington.  Read more

The Eastern Kentucky Colonels football team (3-7) snapped its four-game losing streak on Saturday by beating Austin Peay 67-30. The 67 points scored were tied for the most in program history. EKU previously set that mark in a 1925 game against Morehead St. There was plenty of offense in the game for the Colonels, as they had 531 total yards of offense, including 346 yards on the ground. The EKU football team (2-7) fell 41-28 to Murray St. (4-5) on Saturday afternoon in Richmond. It was the Colonels’ fourth-straight loss. EKU had the lead 20-7 early in the third quarter after the Colonels forced a Murray St. safety. But, the Racers responded, scoring the game’s next 31 points.
