The Eastern Kentucky basketball team is on a much needed winning streak. The Colonels won two straight OVC East games on the road last week, beating Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech. Those games were crucial to keeping EKU’s post season hopes alive, and head coach Dan McHale told us today that the team had its back against the wall, and was proud of how the players responded. The EKU Colonels (8-12, 1-4) are on a three-game losing streak. Unfortunately for Colonels fans, the road does not get any easier, as Eastern will play its next four games on the road, beginning Thursday night at Murray St. (10-9, 3-1). The EKU Colonels (8-10, 1-2) are hoping to bounce back on the winning track Thursday night against Tennessee St. (11-5, 2-1). The Eastern Kentucky men’s basketball team is gearing up for an in-state battle Saturday afternoon. The Colonels (6-5) will face the No. 11 Louisville Cardinals (9-1) inside the KFC Yum! Center. EKU men’s basketball player Jaylen Babb-Harrison is being held in the Madison County Detention Center on a charge of first degree rape. He was booked into the detention center on Sunday. cn|2 Sports received an official statement from EKU after reaching out for comment. It reads: “Eastern Kentucky University and the Department of Athletics are cooperating fully with the Richmond Police Department investigation. EKU MEN'S BASKETBALL | Colonels Top WKU For First Time Since 1987

The EKU Colonels (4-4) were too much for the WKU Hilltoppers (3-4) on Wednesday night, snapping a 13-game losing streak to the Hilltoppers that dated back to 1987. EKU beat WKU 78-59 in front of over 5,000 fans. It was the first trip to Richmond in the rivalry for the Hilltoppers since 2007. The Colonels made sure to spoil the trip for the Hilltoppers early. EKU FOOTBALL | Tyler Swafford earns once in a lifetime scholarship

Eastern Kentucky Football quarterback Tyler Swafford was a valuable piece to the Colonel program this season. As a redshirt sophomore this year, Swafford started four games under head coach Mark Elder, and threw for 940 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for one touchdown. Immediately before the Colonels’ last game of the season, Swafford was in Washington D.C., interviewing for the prestigious George Mitchell Scholarship. Eastern Kentucky (3-4) is getting ready for Wednesday night’s showdown against in-state foe Western Kentucky (3-3). Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET in Richmond’s McBrayer Arena. The two schools’ women’s team will play each other beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET. The game will mark the first time since 2007 that the WKU Hilltoppers men’s basketball team has played in Richmond. EKU FOOTBALL | Colonels Fall in Season Finale to Eastern Illinois

The Eastern Illinois Panthers (6-5, 4-4) spoiled the EKU Colonels’ (3-8, 1-6) season finale on Saturday by getting a 24-0 victory inside Roy Kidd Stadium. The EKU offense could just not get itself going on Saturday. The Colonels were held to 152 total yards, consisting of 84 passing yards and 68 rushing yards.
