Western Kentucky quarterback Mike White is earning some more national recognition. The hilltopper QB is now on another preseason watch list, but this one is for his efforts off the field. White is in preseason consideration for the Wuerffel Trophy. Named after Heisman winning QB Danny Wuerffel, the trophy is considered “College Football’s Premier Award for Community Service.” The award honors the FBS player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement. Conference USA’s 14 head football coaches have picked which players they believe are the best of the best in the conference. Two of the big three C-USA preseason honors are members of the WKU Hilltoppers. The Conference USA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year is WKU senior quarterback Mike White. WKU Basketball | Former Hilltopper Pancake Thomas Signs Pro Deal

Former Western Kentucky University guard, Pancake Thomas signed his first professional contract with Mitteldeutscher Basketball Club in Germany, the team announced Thursday. They play in the first-tier league in Germany. Thomas started all 32 games for WKU during the 2016-17 season after transferring to WKU as a graduate senior. He averaged 13.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Thomas will join several Hilltoppers playing pro ball. The WKU men’s basketball team’s Conference USA schedule has been revealed. The Hilltoppers will play 18 conference games this season, nine home games and nine road games. The conference portion of their schedule begins on Thursday, December 28 when they host Louisiana Tech inside Diddle Arena. The WKU football team has a new player tentatively joining its squad for the 2018 season. Class of 2018 recruit Malik Occiur out of Oakland Park, Fl. verbally committed to Western Kentucky on Twitter Tuesday morning. Occiur tweeted out: “Proud to announce that I’ve committed to Western Kentucky University. #ThePursuit18 #GoTops” The Northeast High School safety is 5’11” and 189 lbs., according to 247 Sports . WKU FOOTBALL | Players arraigned for role in fraternity house fight

Six Western Kentucky football players were arraigned in Warren County circuit court Wednesday morning for their role in the beating of a WKU student at the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity house in Bowling Green. Quinton Baker, Xavier Lane, Tyler Obee and Cecil Stallings were charged with Complicity to 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment, 4th degree complicity to assault and 3rd degree criminal trespass. WKU BASKETBALL | Hollingsworth Gearing Up for KY-IN All-Star Game

Future WKU men’s basketball player Taveion Hollingsworth is preparing to play in this weekend’s Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Classic. This year’s Kentucky Mr. Basketball landed a spot on the 12-player roster, which also features future Topper Jake Ohmer. The KY Boys’ All-Stars will play the IN Boys’ All-Stars on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET inside Indianapolis’ Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
