The Western Kentucky football program held its annual Pro Day on Monday at the team’s Houchens-Smith Stadium. Twenty-one former Hilltoppers showed off their skills in front of representatives from 26 different NFL teams. Those who took part in the Pro Day activities included 18 players on last year’s C-USA championship team. The Western Kentucky women’s basketball team (12-5, 4-1) had a big come-from-behind victory on Thursday over UAB (8-7, 1-3). New Western Kentucky defensive coordinator Clayton White is glad to be on staff against at WKU. White, a 15-year coaching veteran, was hired by new head coach Mike Sanford to lead the Toppers’ defense. White comes to Western after spending the last four seasons at North Carolina St. as the co-special teams coordinator and safeties coach. With only a national championship game to play this football season, most college coaches are moving on to the 2017 season, and that includes Western Kentucky. New head coach Mike Sanford continues to add to his coaching staff, most recently naming Junior Adams as his offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach. The Lady Hilltopper’s Basketball team welcomed in 2017 with a dominating performance over Florida International University, taking down the Golden Panthers 90-38. In the first quarter at Diddle Arena, the Tops held FIU to just four points to their 26. They proceeded to outscore them 15-11 in the second quarter, 24-12 in the third quarter and 25-11 in the fourth.
