Donovan Mitchell, a sophomore guard for the University of Louisville last season, has been selected by the Denver Nuggets with the 13th pick overall in the 2017 NBA Draft first round. The Louisville baseball team is now facing elimination. The Cards (1-1) lost 5-1 to Florida (2-0) in their second game of the College World Series on Tuesday. With the loss, UofL must win its next three games in order to advance to the CWS Finals. The Gators scored the first five runs of the game on Tuesday and never looked back. The University of Louisville baseball team started its run in the 2017 College World Series with an exciting win over Texas A&M, holding off an Aggies comeback and winning 8-4 at TD Ameritrade Park. U of L (53-10) took an early lead after plating five runs in the second inning, and it was enough to survive a mid-innings rally by Texas A&M (41-22). On Friday, Louisville lefthanded pitcher and first baseman Brendan McKay received the prestigious Dick Howser Trophy. The announcement was made during a live broadcast from Omaha on MLB Network. The Dick Howser Trophy is presented each year to the nation’s top collegiate baseball player. McKay is the first Cardinal to win the award. The NCAA Committee on Infractions released its ruling today regarding the sex scandal revolving around the University of Louisville basketball program.
