BOXING | Kentuckians Take Part in "Evander's Tribute to Ali"

Real Deal Sports & Entertainment’s inaugural boxing event took place Saturday night inside Louisville’s Freedom Hall. There were ten professional bouts on the full card. Meanwhile, two amateur fights kicked off the event. Multiple boxers from the Bluegrass took part in the action. The first professional boxer to fight was Louisville’s Abel Penna Falls. The 245-pound boxer faced off against Miami’s Joseph Benjamin White in a four-round heavyweight bout. The Falls-White bout ended in a majority draw. Donovan Mitchell, a sophomore guard for the University of Louisville last season, has been selected by the Denver Nuggets with the 13th pick overall in the 2017 NBA Draft first round. Evander Holyfield’s Real Deal Sports & Entertainment’s inaugural boxing event takes place inside Louisville’s Freedom Hall on Saturday night. The event, which is branded, “Evander’s Tribute to Ali,” is part of the “I Am Ali” festival. There will be ten professional bouts on Saturday night, preceded by two amateur bouts. After a disappointing loss to Florida in Omaha, the Louisville Cardinals now face elimination in the College World Series on Thursday when they take on TCU. The Horned Frogs are making their fourth consecutive trip to Omaha but Voice of the Cardinals Sean Moth says the Cards are in a good place. The Louisville baseball team is now facing elimination. The Cards (1-1) lost 5-1 to Florida (2-0) in their second game of the College World Series on Tuesday. With the loss, UofL must win its next three games in order to advance to the CWS Finals. The Gators scored the first five runs of the game on Tuesday and never looked back. Louisville City FC picked up its third consecutive win this past Saturday by topping the Pittsburgh Riverhounds 3-0. The match was played in front of over 8,000 fans inside Louisville Slugger Field.
