The #7 Louisville Cardinals bounced back after Wednesday’s loss at #8 North Carolina by beating the Syracuse Orange 88-68 on Sunday afternoon. It’s the second time in 13 days that the Cardinals (23-6, 11-5) have beaten the Orange (17-13, 9-8). The Cards led the Orange in just about every major statistical category by the end of the game. The #7 Louisville Cardinals (22-6, 10-5) are hoping to bounce back Sunday afternoon when the Syracuse Orange (17-12, 9-7) visits the KFC Yum! Center. The Cards are coming off a 74-63 loss to #8 North Carolina on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, the Orange is coming off a 78-75 win over #10 Duke Wednesday night. Bellarmine guard Al Davis celebrated Senior Night on Thursday by helping lead his #4 Knights to a 67-61 win over #10 Southern Indiana. The #6 Louisville Cardinals took an early lead and never looked back on Friday afternoon, beating the visiting Omaha Mavericks 7-2. With the win, the Cards improve to 5-0 this season. Ballard High School outfielder and pitcher Jordon Adell is one of the state’s biggest baseball. The Louisville baseball commit is entering his senior season at Ballard and is widely considered to be a front-runner for this year’s Mr. Baseball Award. “My goal for the season is really to stay within myself,” said Adell. The #7 Louisville Cardinals just could not match the #8 North Carolina Tar Heels on Wednesday night. The Cards (22-6 10-5) fell 74-63 to the Tar Heels (24-5, 12-3) in Chapel Hill. With the win, UNC remains undefeated (15-0) at home this season. The Cards trailed 33-30 at halftime, and were outscored 41-33 in the second half. The DuPont Manual girls basketball team won its 25th District Tournament opening round game on Tuesday night. The Lady Crimsons beat Shawnee 74-44 to punch their ticket to the District Tournament Championship Game. The 2012 state champs will face Central on Friday for the District Tournament crown.
