U of L releases details of appeal of NCAA ruling

Details of the University of Louisville’s appeal of NCAA sanctions were made public Friday afternoon. In documents sent to Spectrum News by the university, the institution calls the penalties issued by the NCAA Committee on Infractions “draconian” and states the COI “abused its discretion.” Among additional scholarship restrictions and an institutional fine, the school is prepared to accept a number of penalties handed down by the COI. Despite a recent win over the New York Red Bulls II over the weekend, Louisville City FC won’t be taking it easy this week. The Boys in Purple will be training hard for their next match and they’ll be using some unique gear to do so. The University of Louisville swim and dive team wrapped up the final day of the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest with a gold, a bronze and a world record. Over the course of the eight-day competition, the Cardinals collected nine gold medals in all, as well as two bronze. Olympic swimmer and former Card Kelsi Worrell not only earned one of those gold medals, she also set a new American and world record for the women’s relay. The Louisville swimming team is continuing to grow its national reputation, this time by sending swimmers to three different levels of international competitions: the World Championships, the World University Games, and the Junior World Championships. Louisville basketball fans have known for a long time that Russ Smith is one of the most dynamic scorers to ever wear a Cardinals jersey. UofL Baseball | Jim Patterson Stadium to host NCAA regional

For the fifth straight season, the University of Louisville was one of 16 sites to be chosen on Sunday to host the opening weekend of the 2017 NCAA Tournament. The Regional is set to begin on Friday, June 2. The Cardinals are making their 10th NCAA postseason appearance in the last 11 seasons and the program’s 11th NCAA appearance overall. Louisville City FC Hosts Boys and Girls Club of Kentuckiana For A Clinic

Just four days ahead of their Saturday matchup against the Bethlehem Steel, Louisville City FC players took some time out to teach the future generation.
