Louisville men’s basketball head coach Chris Mack has been staying busy so far this offseason, both recruiting and getting his team ready for the upcoming season. Mack took over as the Cardinals head coach at the end of March. Eastern Kentucky University’s football team wrapped up its 2018 spring practice schedule with the annual Maroon & White Game on Saturday at Roy Kidd Stadium. Head coach Mark Elder split the team into offense (Maroon) and defense (White) for the scrimmage and used an adjusted point system for the game. Opening Day for most minor league baseball teams get underway on Thursday, April 5. In addition to a new season, the Lexington Legends will have a new voice on the air this baseball season. Emma Tiedemann, who is a native of Texas, is one of only two female announcers in all of minor league baseball. The Lexington Legends hosted media day Wednesday and previewed the start of it’s season by announcing their 2018 Opening Day roster. The roster includes 13 pitchers, three catchers, seven infielders and four outfielders. Four of the top five prospects in the Kansas City Royals organization will begin their 2018 season in Lexington. Kentucky High School Basketball 'HistoryMobile' Stops in Lexington

This year is the 100th anniversary of Kentucky’s Sweet 16 basketball tournament. WKU Lady Toppers Win Big Against Charlotte on Senior Night

WKU’s Women’s Basketball beat Charlotte 83-61 Friday night. Head Coach Michelle Clark-Heard credited her Seniors, Ivy Brown and Tashia Brown for the win. Tashia Brown scored a career high of 38 points with nine rebounds and three steals. Ivy Brown had 14 points and Freshman Raneem Elgedawy scored 12 with 8 rebounds. Stansbury Lets Bench Shine in WKU Basketball's 38 Point Win Over Charlotte

WKU gained a lead over Charlotte after 10 minutes of play, and Head Coach Rick Stansbury used the opportunity to let the bench play through some mistakes. Coming off the bench, Freshman Josh Anderson led the Hilltoppers with a career high of 19 points. WKU’s Lady Tops won 77-50 over Marshall Saturday despite having a slow start offensively. Head Coach Michelle Clark-Heard and Senior Ivy Brown discuss the team’s 20th win this season. Stansbury Credits Playing Small in WKU Win Over FIU

Coach Stansbury said playing small helped both Josh Anderson and Darius Thompson to be more effective in scoring and rebounding in WKU Basketball’s 83-76 win over FIU Saturday night. He may have planned to go small for this game, but Dwight Coleby’s knee injury in the first half may have sealed that decision for the head coach.
