H.S. TRACK & FIELD | Male Hoping for Another Big Showing at State Championships

The 2018 KHSAA State Track & Field Championships take place this week in Lexington. The competition runs from Thursday through Saturday at the UK Outdoor Track & Field Complex. H.S. FOOTBALL | Kevin Wallace Era Underway at St. Xavier

St. Xavier High School (Louisville) introduced Kevin Wallace as its new head football coach back in February. Now, he’s leading his team through spring practice. Spectrum News’ Gary Fogle stopped by a Kevin Wallace-led St. X spring practice earlier this week: Prior to coaching at St. X, Wallace served as head coach of the Bowling Green High School football team. During his tenure at Bowling Green, he led the Purples to five state titles. Read more 

H.S. SOFTBALL | Male Hitting Plenty of Home Runs This Season

Male softball always seems to have plenty of talent on its roster. This season is no different. One of the players on this year’s team is senior Jenna Howell, who leads the state in home runs with 14 of them so far this season. “I’ve been working a lot on my swing over the summer and the fall, and this season, everything finally came together for me,” said Howell.  Read more

Picture Perfect: Classmate Draws Romeo Langford And Highlights Accomplishments

New Albany senior cheerleader and artist Lili Kaelin has a special gift in drawing portraits. Kaelin says it was important for her to draw New Albany senior basketball star and classmate Romeo Langford before he graduated and moved on to the next chapter in his life. The high school football season is months away, but programs are already getting work done to prepare for the 2018 campaign. That includes the Kentucky Country Day football program. KCD is coming off a successful season, making it to the KHSAA 1A quarterfinal round of the state tournament. The Bearcats finished with an overall record of 11-2. H.S. FISHING | Collins Bass Fishing Team Grows in Second Year

Wednesday night’s edition of Sports Night was a “County Connection” episode featuring Shelby County. As a result, the show featured the Collins High School bass fishing team. The Titans took part in the KHSAA Region 2 Tournament this past weekend, weighing in five different teams. H.S. BASEBALL | Remembering PRP Head Coach Bill Miller

Pleasure Ridge Park High School baseball head coach Bill Miller passed away on Monday. He was 68. Miller had been battling stage-IV lung cancer since 2015. Miller was the head coach of the Panthers’ baseball program for 39 years, winning six state championships with the team, while collecting a state-record 1,144 victories in the process. The Courier-Journal’s Jason Frakes joined Sports Night on Tuesday to reflect on the life and career of Miller: Miller was inducted into the KHSAA Hall of Fame this past weekend.... Read more
