H.S. FOOTBALL | Milton Wright Narrows Down College Choices To Five

Christian Academy of Louisville’s Milton Wright is getting plenty of looks from major colleges across the country. This week, Wright narrowed his list of potential landing spots to five schools: Alabama, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio St. and Purdue. Fourteen-year-old football player Kiyaunta Goodwin continues to make a big impression with college football, despite not having played a down high school football yet. Goodwin, who is getting ready for his first year of high school at Holy Cross (Louisville), recently received offers from programs like Alabama and Florida St. Previously, Goodwin had received multiple other offers, including from Louisville and Kentucky. H.S. BASEBALL | Highlands Too Much for South Oldham at KHSAA State Tournament

The Highlands High School baseball team is moving on to the second round of the 2018 Whitaker Bank/KHSAA State Baseball Tournament. The Bluebirds (27-13) beat South Oldham (21-13) on Friday, winning 4-2. The St. X Tigers are having another memorable baseball season. They are ranked No. 1 in the state of Kentucky and have an overall record of 33-2. St. X plays Pleasure Ridge Park (28-6) on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET in the first round of the 2018 Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Baseball State Tournament. H.S. TENNIS | Carrie Beckman Constantly Working on Improving Game

Sacred Heart girls tennis player Carrie Beckman won the 2018 KHSAA Girls’ Tennis Singles Championship in May. She defeated her teammate Ellie Eades in the championship match. Spectrum News’ Gary Fogle caught up with Beckman to see how she trains in order to find success on the court: Beckman’s title was the first girls singles state title for Sacred Heart since 1991.  Read more

Ballard High School linebacker Jared Casey is getting ready for his senior year. Casey missed all of last season after suffering a shoulder injury. But, he’s been working hard this summer preparing for the upcoming season. Spectrum News’ Gary Fogle explains that despite having missed all of last year, many schools are hoping Casey joins their college football programs, including UofL and UK: Casey says he hopes to make his college choice by early fall, if possible.  Read more

The Fern Creek baseball team is experiencing a big turnaround this season. Last year, the Tigers had a record of 19-16 overall. This year, the Tigers are 22-4 overall. The 2018 KHSAA State Track & Field Championships take place this week in Lexington. The competition runs from Thursday through Saturday at the UK Outdoor Track & Field Complex. H.S. FOOTBALL | Kevin Wallace Era Underway at St. Xavier

St. Xavier High School (Louisville) introduced Kevin Wallace as its new head football coach back in February. Now, he’s leading his team through spring practice. Spectrum News’ Gary Fogle stopped by a Kevin Wallace-led St. X spring practice earlier this week: Prior to coaching at St. X, Wallace served as head coach of the Bowling Green High School football team. During his tenure at Bowling Green, he led the Purples to five state titles. Read more
