Tickets are now available for the Russell Athletic/KHSAA State Football Finals. Six state championship games, hosted by the University of Kentucky and the city of Lexington, will be played at Kroger Field Dec. 1-3. Last week, Assumption High School revealed that varsity field hockey head coach Debbie Judd was stepping down as head coach. Judd, who coached the Rockets’ field hockey program for roughly 30 years, led her team to a lot of success. During her time as Assumption head coach, she led the Rockets to over 550 wins, along with 10 state championships. The Assumption High School volleyball team is celebrating the school’s 20th state title this week, after sweeping opponent Mercy. As the 2017 KHSAA volleyball champions, the Rockets won more than half of all volleyball state championships in the Bluegrass. Trinity senior wide receiver Rondale Moore received a U.S. Army All-American Bowl invitation Wednesday at Trinity High School. Moore will be Trinity’s fourth All-American, following Brian Brohm, Jason Hatcher and James Quick. Moore, a Texas-commit, is a four-star and considered the top 2018 prospect in the state of Kentucky. Moore and the Shamrocks are undefeated this season, hosting Seneca on Friday at 7:30 p.m. eastern in the first round of the playoffs. The 2017 KHSAA Soccer Championships continue this week at Lafayette High School. The boys’ semifinal games will take place on Wednesday. The first match-up features Daviess County and Ryle at 6 p.m. ET. The other semifinal round match-up features St. Xavier and Warren Central at 8 p.m. ET. The two winning teams will then face off in the boys’ state championship game Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. Daviess County is the defending boys’ soccer state champion. In the final week of the regular season, the Henderson County Colonels are heading to Owensboro to take on the Red Devils at 7:00 central. H.S. FIELD HOCKEY | CAL Wins 2017 State Championship

The Christian Academy of Louisville field hockey team won the 2017 KHSAA State Championship on Wednesday evening in front of its home crowd. CAL topped Assumption 2-1 thanks to a second half goal by the Centurions’ Claudia Thomas with under 11 minutes to play in the game. Thomas’ goal was the only goal scored by either team in the second half. Assumption was the defending state champion, having won the 2016 state title. Read more

Since 2013 the Bowling Green and South Warren football teams have a combined record of 115-13 with four State Championships between them. This week they meet for the very first time. The defending back-to-back State Champs, the Bowling Green Purples are 6-2 this season with two losses to Louisville schools (PRP and St. X in weeks two and three). The Logan County football team did not win a single game over a four-year span; owning the longest losing streak in the state. Now, they own a new streak- a winning streak. The Cougars are 8 -0 and on a nine-game winning streak; they even clinched home-field advantage for the playoffs last week against Madisonville North Hopkins. Gov. Matt Bevin signs HB 241, providing more protection for high school student athletes

Kentuck governor Matt Bevin signed House Bill 241 into effect this afternoon, which has amendments to protect Kentucky high school student athletes. The bill prohibits a coach from returning a student who has sustained a concussion to play until that student athlete has been cleared by a physician.  Read more
