The St. X boys swimming and diving team won its 29th straight state title on Saturday at the KHSAA State Championships. As a result, the Tigers tied a national boys swimming and diving record, as only two other programs have won 29 consecutive state championships. “We’ve just been working so hard,” said junior Martin Nitzken. “To have that pay off is just mind-blowing.” Honolulu Punahou (Hawaii) won 29 straight state titles from 1958-1986, while Jacksonville Bolles (Florida) won 29 straight state titles... Read more

Ballard High School outfielder and pitcher Jordon Adell is one of the state’s biggest baseball. The Louisville baseball commit is entering his senior season at Ballard and is widely considered to be a front-runner for this year’s Mr. Baseball Award. “My goal for the season is really to stay within myself,” said Adell. H.S. GIRLS BASKETBALL | DuPont Manual Preparing for District Tourney Title Game

The DuPont Manual girls basketball team won its 25th District Tournament opening round game on Tuesday night. The Lady Crimsons beat Shawnee 74-44 to punch their ticket to the District Tournament Championship Game. The 2012 state champs will face Central on Friday for the District Tournament crown. H.S. BOYS BASKETBALL | Dunbar Named "Team of the Week"

The Dunbar boys basketball team was named Sports Night’s “Team of the Week” on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are coming off a big week in which they knocked off the state’s No. 1 team, Covington Catholic, 81-62 on Saturday. The Bulldogs fell to West Jessamine 86-85 on Tuesday night. But, history was made by a Dunbar player during the game. PLD’s Taveion Hollingsworth, a future WKU Hilltopper, scored 42 points, becoming the Lexington area’s all-time leading scorer with 2,422 career points.  Read more
