Despite being picked to finish fifth in the OVC preseason poll at media days, the EKU football team is still very hopeful that they’ll have a good season this year. Last year, the Colonels finished 3-8 and just 1-6 in the conference. Head Coach Mark Elder says he returns plenty of players on defense. EKU forward Jackson Davis is looking forward to the 2017-2018 season. This will be the first year he is eligible to play in games for the Colonels after having to sit out last season due to NCAA transfer rules. “For me it was all about helping them (teammates) in any way I could,” said Davis. The EKU men’s basketball team is looking forward to the 2017-2018 season. In fact, head coach Dan McHale may even be the most excited person in the program about the upcoming year. The EKU football team held its annual Maroon & White Spring Game this past Saturday. The defense beat the offense 46-13 in the intrasquad match-up. EKU TRACK & FIELD | Claitt Making EKU History

EKU sophomore track and field athlete Tequan Claitt broke a 35-year-old school record on Saturday at WKU’s Hilltopper Relays. Claitt, a high jumper, jumped 7’-5.75” to take over as the owner of the best high jump in school history. After dropping two games in Nashville last week, the Eastern Kentucky Men’s Basketball team is mathematically eliminated from the playing in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament. The Eastern Kentucky Men’s Basketball team had only six players play seven minutes or more in the recent loss to Morehead State, and even at a serious disadvantage when it comes to healthy scholarship options, The Colonels still had a chance to earn a win over one of the OVC’s top teams. EKU ATHLETICS | Colonels Host Student-Athlete Talent Show

Eastern Kentucky hosted its annual student-athlete talent show on Wednesday night. The event, known on campus as “Jock ‘N Roll,” raised money for the Ohio Valley Conference’s “Hoops for Heroes” initiative. “I had to get my teammates involved,” said EKU women’s basketball player Amadi Brooks. All the money raised from Wednesday’s show helps send a military veteran and his/her family to the OVC Basketball Tournament in Nashville.
