SPALDING UNIVERSITY | Building Renamed In Honor Of Muhammad Ali

Wednesday, January 17, 2018 would have marked Muhammad Ali’s 76th birthday. In the spirit of celebrating the Champ on his birthday, Spalding University announced they have officially renamed their athletic and athletics building back to Columbia Gym. In 1954 in Columbia Gym on Spalding’s campus, a young Cassius Clay learned the sport of boxing. Bellarmine men’s basketball head coach Scott Davenport is closing in on a milestone. The Bellarmine Knights basketball team is getting ready for its first game in over a month. The No. 3 Knights (10-0) host Martin Methodist College (TN) on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET inside Knights Hall. The city of Louisville is playing host to multiple NCAA Championships this weekend. The NCAA Division I, II and III Field Hockey Championships are scheduled for Friday and Sunday in Louisville. With over 4,000 fans in the stands, the Bellarmine Knights and Cincinnati Bearcats faced off in an exhibition match-up in the historic Freedom Hall. #12 Cincinnati walked away with the win 89-61.
