The University of Louisville Athletics Broadcast Center opened on Monday. The 7,850 square foot television production facility will be used to house equipment and personnel that is necessary to originate live programming for the upcoming ACC Network. Of course, the ACC and ESPN previously announced their partnership to launch the comprehensive linear and digital ACC Network in 2019. The Louisville football team is back home in Louisville getting ready for its home opener. The Cards (0-1) host Indiana St. (1-0) Saturday inside Cardinal Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. It will be UofL’s first home game inside the recently updated Cardinal Stadium. UofL Director of Athletics Vince Tyra provided an update on the stadium expansion project on Wednesday: Tyra says over 5,400 seats were added during the stadium expansion project, bringing Cardinal Stadium’s capacity to just over 60,000. Read more

The Louisville Breeders’ Cup Festival officially announced its lineup of events for this year’s Breeders’ Cup week in the Derby City. Events will take place from Oct. 28 – Nov. 10. One of the big attractions is Equestricon, which takes place at the Kentucky International Convention Center. The two-day festival kicks off on Oct. 29. Louisville City FC’s upcoming match against Toronto FC II, originally scheduled for Wednesday, July 18, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, August 28 at 7 p.m. ET inside Louisville Slugger Field. The match was moved because LouCity will face Chicago Fire on the U.S. Open Cup on July 18. If tickets need to be reprinted, LouCity advises fans to contact their individual ticket representative or call the LouCity front office. Louisville City FC has had a crazy couple of weeks to say the least. The Boys in Purple have played four matches since June 20, have broke ground on their new soccer-specific stadium in Butchertown and have lost head coach James O’Connor to Major League Soccer’s Orlando City SC. The 2018-2019 WKU football and men’s basketball teams will field their 100th teams on the gridiron and hardwood. UofL FOOTBALL | Lamar Jackson Named ACC Male Athlete of the Year

Former Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson was announced as the ACC Male Athlete of the Year on Thursday for his performance during the 2017-2018 academic year. Jackson accounted for an ACC-record 5,261 total yards last season, while also accounting for 45 touchdowns. Jackson was selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens in May.
