Ahead of the November 6 election, the Sixth Congressional District is getting visits from political heavyweights.

President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden will be making stops in the bluegrass to campaign for their respective candidates.

Vice President Biden will be in Bath County on October 12 for a fish fry and campaign rally for Democratic Candidate Amy McGrath.

“I’m so honored that Vice President Biden will join me in Bath County next week and have a chance to meet the hardworking people from our rural counties. The Vice President is an American patriot who has dedicated his life to serving our country and bettering the lives of all Americans. We are holding a community fish fry in his honor and all are welcome. Whether you are a Democrat, Republican or an Independent, we hope you will join us and celebrate one of our country’s most well-loved and respected citizen leaders.” McGrath said in a statement.

“Amy McGrath has dedicated her life to service to this country. We need more men and women of character like Amy in Congress, and I am looking forward to coming to Kentucky to campaign alongside her.” Biden’s statement read.

The following day, on October 13, President Trump will be holding a Make America Great Again Campaign Rally while campaigning for Congressman Andy Barr.

His campaign released the following statement in response to the visit.

“Today, we learned that the unemployment rate dropped to its lowest level in 49 years, and the President who made that happen is coming to Kentucky. I’m honored to welcome President Trump to the Sixth District to speak to Kentuckians in advance of the November 6th election. Kentuckians are better off today because of the policies I voted for and this President signed into law.”

The visits come as the race continues to remain tight.
