State Treasurer Allison Ball announced a pair of personnel moves on Tuesday, promoting spokesman OJ Oleka to chief of staff and appointing a former Rand Paul and Brett Guthrie staffer as Unclaimed Property Division director.
Oleka will continue his duties as spokesman while also managing day-to-day operations and advising on policy and legislative issues, and Samara Heavrin, a former executive assistant in Paul’s U.S. Senate office who also worked on Guthrie’s congressional staff, will work as director in the Unclaimed Property Division, according to a news release.
Oleka said in a statement that he’s honored to serve in his new role at the office, and Ball also praised her new chief of staff.
“For the past year, OJ has shaped the message coming out of my office,” she said in a statement. “He has been a leader in developing policy goals and has developed a strong understanding of all functions within Treasury. I’m confident in his ability to do the job.”
Heavrin will also help promote Ball’s STABLE Kentucky program for disable Kentuckians and other legislative priorities in the office, according to the release.
“Samara is a tremendous asset to our team,” Ball said in a statement. “She is a hard worker and will bring an additional level of organization and a fresh perspective to our team.”
Ball detailed the staff updates in a recent interview with Pure Politics, watch the video below for that interview.
