The Build Our New Bridge Now coalition took its pitch to business leaders this week, urging them to get on board with a public-private partnership approach toward funding a new bridge — even if that means tolls.

Leaders of the coalition addressed the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce’s Issues ‘n Eggs breakfast Tuesday. Their overarching point was that the privatized funding, coupled with government dollars would be the fastest way to start construction — potentially by 2015. The sooner it’s built, the sooner the region will see economic benefits.

A more than $2 billion bridge has been proposed to alleviate traffic pressure from the Brent Spence Bridge that carries I-75 and I-71 across the Ohio River to Cincinnati.

They have pointed to the two new bridges in Louisville, which will be partially funded with toll revenue.

But not everyone in Northern Kentucky is sold on the concept. Here’s a look at the latest round of arguments:

    This new bridge will have to be stopped since new Congressman Massie wants a more limited government with much less spending.
    He must remain consistent with this less spending philosophy to be honest with us all. He never did say his mantra excluded big spending in Kentucky.

    If your a believer in Federalism, then you can have all the Government services you want, just dont expect the other 49 states to pay for them.
