FRANKFORT — State Sen. Reggie Thomas became the third Democrat to file paperwork with the Secretary of State’s office to appear on the ballot for 6th Dist. Congressional seat.

Thomas, D-Lexington, joins a crowded field for the race with a message focused around health care, and U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, R-Lexington, votes to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

Two other high profile Democrats in Lexington Mayor Jim Gray and former Marine Corps fighter pilot Amy McGrath have yet to file their paperwork to appear on the ballot.

Thomas told reporters that he is focusing his campaign on appearing before voters, and believes he is the most qualified candidate for the office.

Geoff Young and Theodore David Green have also filed paperwork to run for the office.
Candidates have until 4pm Eastern Time on Tues. Jan. 30 to file for the election.
