The Chatter: McConnell vs. Grimes edition (Grimes' campaign hires, McConnell's take on ACA delay)

Alison Lundergan Grimes assembled the first core group of her campaign apparatus, as the National Journal’s Sarah Mimms reported Wednesday.
- Grimes is bringing back Mark Putnam of the Putnam group to handle her TV ad production. Putnam produced Grimes’ ads in her 2011 run for secretary of state, including one featuring both of her grandmothers touting her candidacy.
- Polling will be done by Democratic pollster Mark Mellman of the Mellman Group.
- And Democratic consultant Jonathan Hurst, who also worked on the 2011 campaign, will serve as campaign spokesman, Mimms reported.
McConnell says Obama delayed ACA taxes for political reasons
U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell said it wasn’t a coincidence that the Obama administration delayed a key provision of the Affordable Care Act until after the 2014 election in which 19 of 33 U.S. Senate seats up for re-election are Democrats.
That also happens to be when McConnell is up. And he is expected to face Grimes in the 2014 general election.
