The Chatter: CNN profiles Chandler-Barr race; Democratic poll shows U.S. Senate race close, Politico forecasts House races

News network CNN is profiling Kentucky’s 6th Congressional Race between Democratic U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler and Republican challenger Andy Barr today as part of its on-going CNN 100 list. The network has already profiled the 3rd District race of U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth. Neither Chandler’s or Yarmuth’s race is considered to be in the top 50 races to watch, according to the list.
Washington Post writer Chris Cillizza reports a new poll commissioned by former Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Horne’s 527 group, Kentucky Leadership, shows the U.S. Senate race between Paul and Democrat Jack Conway is a statistical dead heat. The poll, by John Anzalone, shows Paul up 48 to 45 percent. The poll also found that about six in ten voters polled agreed that Paul “says things that bother and concern me.”
Political website Politico has a seat-by-seat take on how Republicans could win back the U.S. House of Representatives, and both Chandler and Yarmuth make the list. Neither race is in the top tier of Politico’s list, but Chandler’s seat is profiled in the “landslide” section, with Politico saying that if Chandler loses to Barr, expect Republicans to overwhelmingly overtake the House. Yarmuth is considered on the bubble but not really in the discussion.
