The Chatter: Chandler releases poll

The campaign for Democratic U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler of Versailles released a memo showing him leading Republican challenger Andy Barr by 20 points.
The memo, provided to cn|2 Politics and Roll Call, reflects the findings of a survey of 400 likely voters in the 6th District taken by the Mellman Group, Inc., between Sept. 13-14. It showed Chandler receiving 53% of respondents’ support compared to 33% for Barr and 14% undecided.
“Among swing independents, Chandler leads Barr 40% to 29%. With frequent voters, Chandler’s margin — 55% to 33% — is wider than it is across the entire electorate,” the polling memo said. Click here to see the memo.
The 20-point margin is wider than spread in a cn|2 Poll in the 6th Congressional District in late July. That survey of 503 voters, conducted July 26-27, showed Chandler leading Barr by 14 points with 21% of voters.
