CQ Politics is reporting that Andy Barr’s internal poll has the Republican challenger trailing Democratic U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler by 7 points — a much closer race than the 20-point spread Chandler’s internal polling memo showed earlier this month.
The internal poll for Barr surveyed 407 likely voters and showed Chandler leading 49% to 42%. The survey, conducted by the Tarrance Group, had a margin of error of 4.9 points, CQ reported.
Chandler’s internal poll, conducted by the Mellman Group, had Chandler at 53% and Barr at 33%.
