Sen. Bernie Sanders to headline anti-tax reform event in Louisville

Former Presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont will headline an event opposing Republican efforts to change the tax code in Louisville this Friday.

The rally “to oppose Republican tax cuts for millionaires, billionaires, and wealthy corporations” will be held at the Galt House and is expected to begin at 7:00 PM on Friday, Dec. 1.

Sanders is joining along with ‘Not One Penny’ and Civic Action at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville for the first rally of the four-stop ‘Protecting Working Families Tour’ meant to oppose the GOP tax plan.

The Independent Senator is expected to appear with local activists and politicians at the event aimed at building support around defeating the Republican tax plan, which is estimated to increase the federal deficit by $1.4 trillion over the next ten years, according to a Congressional Budget Office analysis.

“This legislation goes well beyond taxes. If passed, the Republicans will then rediscover the ‘deficit crisis,’ and push aggressively for massive cuts in Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, education, nutrition, affordable housing and more. That is why I am going on the road this week to talk directly to working people. If we stand together we can defeat this horrific bill,” Sen. Bernie Sanders said in a news release.
