Sen. Bernie Sanders to headline anti-tax reform event in Louisville

Former Presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont will headline an event opposing Republican efforts to change the tax code in Louisville this Friday.

The rally “to oppose Republican tax cuts for millionaires, billionaires, and wealthy corporations” will be held at the Galt House and is expected to begin at 7:00 PM on Friday, Dec. 1.

Sanders is joining along with ‘Not One Penny’ and MoveOn.org Civic Action at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville for the first rally of the four-stop ‘Protecting Working Families Tour’ meant to oppose the GOP tax plan.

The Independent Senator is expected to appear with local activists and politicians at the event aimed at building support around defeating the Republican tax plan, which is estimated to increase the federal deficit by $1.4 trillion over the next ten years, according to a Congressional Budget Office analysis.

“This legislation goes well beyond taxes. If passed, the Republicans will then rediscover the ‘deficit crisis,’ and push aggressively for massive cuts in Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, education, nutrition, affordable housing and more. That is why I am going on the road this week to talk directly to working people. If we stand together we can defeat this horrific bill,” Sen. Bernie Sanders said in a news release.

Poor title. Please change it to, “Sen. Bernie Sanders to slam GOP tax plan in Louisville Friday”
The phrase, “headline anti-tax reform event” is a journalistic monstrosity.

The middle class and lower voters love this Republican plan to help the “well-heeled” and privileged. They all voted the new leaders in and the Republican leadership is real clear they must cut the taxes of this bunch and send us $1.5 trillion more in debt. They used to win by complaining Democrats are running government on a credit card. Now, the R’s are doing it after getting elected by telling all they are “fiscal conservatives”
