Republican Party of Kentucky executive director Mike Biagi is leaving his position in June to join a Louisville based lobbying firm.

Biagi, who has served as executive director of the state GOP since August of 2015, will join the Rotunda Group as a partner. The lobbying firm specializes in government relations and business development. The firm represents many national companies and leading Kentucky employers, including: Beam Suntory, American Express Company, Norton Healthcare, Appalachian Regional Healthcare, LG&E and KU Energy, and ResCare, according to a press release.

During his time at the state party, Republicans took control of the House of Representatives, gaining 17 seats in the November 2016 election on the way to a GOP supermajority.

Mac Brown, Chairman of the Republican Party of Kentucky, said Biagi has been a great leader for the party, adding he is “thrilled for him as he begins this excellent opportunity.”

House Speaker Jeff Hoover credited Biagi’s leadership as “crucial” in taking control of the state House for the first time since 1921.

“Mike’s leadership was crucial in winning our New Majority,” said the Speaker of the House Jeff Hoover. “I appreciate his passion and commitment, and have no doubt he’ll succeed at The Rotunda Group.”

Biagi joins partners Kelley Abell, Tim Corrigan, Tony Sholar and Tom Underwood, at the Rotunda Group.

“The Rotunda Group has been at the leading edge of advocacy, policy formation and business development for over 15 years. Its record of achievements in Kentucky is unrivaled,” Biagi said in a statement. “I am grateful for the opportunity to join such a well-respected government relations and business development firm, and look forward to continuing its success and growth.”
