Republican Congressional Candidate Brooks Wicker to raise money at event hosted by Papa John's founder

GOP third district Congressional hopeful Brooks Wicker will soon be filling his campaign coffers at a fundraiser hosted by Papa John’s founder John Schnatter at his Anchorage home, Wicker announced Thursday.
Wicker faces an uphill fundraising battle against incumbent Democratic Congressman John Yarmuth of Louisville. Yarmuth has nearly $400,000 cash on hand in his campaign account compared to around $600 on hand for Wicker, according to recent FEC filings.
Wicker’s campaign staff called the announcement a “major development,” in a press release to promote his appearance on 84 WHAS with conservative talk radio host Mandy Connell.
“People thinking they know how this race is going to turn out need to take a step back. This thing is only just getting started,” said Wicker in the release.
The invitation only fundraiser is scheduled for July 19th at 6:30 pm, and Wicker said the event is the first of several fundraisers scheduled featuring community success stories.
