Report: U of L Foundation financial head placed on paid administrative leave

A day after the University of Louisville’s board of trustees reviewed the findings of a forensic audit into the nonprofit group that handles its endowment, news broke that U of L Foundation Chief Financial Officer Jason Tomlinson had been placed on paid administrative leave.

Insider Louisville first reported the change in Tomlinson’s status at the foundation.

The audit, conducted by the Chicago-based firm Alvarez & Marsal, explored the foundation’s finances from 2010 through 2016 and detailed several millions in overspending and lax board oversight of the foundation’s finances.

Keith Sherman, interim executive director of the foundation, confirmed Tomlinson’s placement on paid administrative leave but declined to say when and why the action occurred, according to the report.

Tomlinson was among several U of L Foundation officials who were interviewed as part of Alvarez & Marsal’s six-month audit.
