Protests and parties mark opening of Democrats' week in Charlotte

Many of the Democratic delegates began arriving in Charlotte over the weekend, setting the stage for a packed week of speeches, parties — and even an “Occupy Charlotte” protest march.

Here are the sights and sounds from the first 24 hours of the Democratic National Convention week in Charlotte, including expectations from some of the Kentucky delegates:

Elisabeth Jensen, an alternate delegate from Lexington and the president of the Race for Education organization, talked with Pure Politics about which big-name Democrats she’s most looking forward to hearing from and what could be said this week that would make a difference with Kentuckians.
