PRIMARY 2018 | Man denied same-sex marriage license loses bid to challenge Kim Davis in November

In an effort to unseat the woman who denied him a same-sex marriage license three years ago, Rowan County democrat David Ermold has lost his bid to challenge incumbent Kim Davis.

In 2015, Davis made national headlines when she cited religious beliefs for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples despite a ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court which legalized the unions.

Democrat Elwood Caudill earned the democratic nomination to challenge Davis in November after receiving more than half of the primary vote.
