Poll from GOP-leaning firms shows McConnell with 9-point lead over Judd

Polling data released Wednesday showed U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell as a nine point favorite to start his re-election bid.

The survey conducted by RunSwitch Public Relations in conjunction with conservative polling firm Harper Polling shows McConnell leading rumored potential Democratic Senate candidate, actress Ashley Judd.

In a hypothetical head-to-head test, McConnell would get 49 percent to Judd’s 40 percent in the survey of 850 likely Kentucky voters. It had a margin of error of 3.36 points, according to the polling memo.

McConnell and Judd tied when it comes to support of women voters, each receiving 44 percent.

Scott Jennings, co-founder of RunSwitch, cites the SuperPAC ad mocking Judd was found to be effective when polling about Judd not currently being a Kentucky resident and being referred to as a “radical”.

The firm said in the statement it will release more results from the survey on Thursday.

    Ashley Judd would be a dream opponent for McConnell (and not in a good way for Dems), so the question is why Karl Rove and his moneychangers are wasting their time and money on an un-announced Judd candidacy? Maybe Karl has cut a side deal with Ashley’s publicist? Of course, I’m not near as smart as the ol’turd blossom Rove. He did, after all, put Romney in the White House. And Rand’s Tea Party just looooves the little feller.

    As a Mitch McConnell supporter, I believe Karl Rove is making a mistake by going after Ashley Judd so early. Let her run, then reveal all her baggage. I also think it is a shame that the residency requirements are more stringent in Kentucky to run for the state legislature than for the U.S. Senate. Our state legislature should change that. We are as bad as New York, which allowed carpetbaggers such as Robert Kennedy and Hillary Clinton to run for the U.S Senate. Why doesn’t Ashley Judd run from Tennessee next year? Because Lamar Alexander would demolish her. Mitch will beat her, too, if Carpetbagger Ashley tries to move to Kentucky. WIN, MITCH, WIN!!!!!!!
