Piner residents set out on long road to rebuilding their community

The community of Piner has begun rebuilding in the wake of extraordinary destruction from Friday’s storms while maintaining normal routines in other parts of life — like sending their kids to school.
About 88 homes were completely destroyed in the southern Kenton County community, according to initial estimates from emergency management officials.
But schools opened as usual on Monday amid some otherwise unusual scenes:
