Paducah store selling shirts to benefit Marshall County community

PADUCAH – As a result of the Marshall County High School shootings, a western Kentucky business is looking to make a difference by raising funds for the victims of the tragedy.

Action Sports Screen Printing & Embroidery is selling “We are Marshall” t-shirts, giving 100 percent of the proceeds to organizations that will help the families affected.

The shirts sell for $10 each, and the owner is paying for the shirts and ink.

Store manager Jack Armstrong admits that he was surprised by the brisk sales of the shirts.

“We pulled the shirts out of our stock yesterday, maybe a hundred, to see how things go, and it’s just unbelievable,” Armstrong said. “Right now, I think we’re up to 2,000 for sure, and there’s more orders in email that we haven’t got to.”

Armstrong believes that people are thinking that as they buy the shirts, they know that their money is going to a good cause.

“They can buy a t-shirt for $10 and it’s going to help somebody pay for a funeral, or hospital costs, or meals, or something, nobody prepays for a funeral for a fifteen-year-old kid, so that’s something that catches you off guard.” Armstrong said.

Armstrong says that as long as people still want the shirts, Action Sports will continue to make them available.

“We have no plans to stop at the moment,” Armstrong said. “We may do some more for the store for people that may need to get them later. We had to take the phone off the hook for six hours because we couldn’t take care of all of the customers from coming through.”
