P'Pool's new ads attack Conway over brother's drug investigation
11/01/2011 11:33 AM
In the final week of the general election, Republican challenger Todd P’Pool is putting family back in the cross hairs in his latest TV ad.
The 15 second ad goes after Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway over a drug investigation his brother, Matt, was involved in last year.
The 15 second ad doesn’t go into great detail about the investigation and uses a quote from Conway denying his involvement. But the narrator finishes the ad by saying “Jack, will you ever learn? In Kentucky, character matters.”
Conway has repeatedly denied claims from P’Pool and the Republican Party of Kentucky that he compromised a Louisville police investigation of his brother, a former Louisville prosecutor.
Conway has maintained that when contacted by his brother, who was tipped off by a police detective, all the attorney general did was advise his brother to get an attorney.
Republicans allege that Jack Conway took the heat off his brother’s investigation. Conway denies those allegations.
The 30-second counterpart ad opens with the start of another ad, which criticizes Conway for his “Aqua Buddha” ad last year, before finishing with the 15 second version.
Correction: An earlier version of this story said Republican allege Jack Conway had committed perjury during his brother, Matt’s, investigation. Republicans have alleged that Matt Conway committed perjury, not Jack Conway.
